Accommodation: The Pestana Dom Joao Village is just 30 minutes away from the Faro International Airport, 5 km from Portimao and just 1 km from Alvor village.

The Village is a comfortable and well-situated Beach Resort that enjoys a unique and enviable setting with direct access to Alvor Beach.

The Alvor Estuary, close to the hotel, is one of the country's most important bird sanctuaries. The Pestana Dom Joao Village comprises of a hotel (the Pestana Dom Joao II), an Aparthotel (the Pestana Alvor Atlantico), refurbished throughout in 2001, and Villas.

The Dom João Village complex has 330 rooms, some with kitchenette, 22 suites and 32 villas. Villa accommodation includes air conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, safe deposit box, hair dryer, living room with two sofas (one sofa bed), dining table and chairs, refrigerator, hob and microwave, washing machine and dishwasher, toaster, electric coffee percolator and crockery, sunshade, table and chairs on the balcony.

Facilities at The Dom Joao Village include: Pavilhao do Rei – for breakfast and half-board dinners, Retiro do Rei - Snack-Bar at the poolside, Atlantico - Portuguese and International food, Cabana-Marché - Ocean Snack-Bar on the beach open May to October, 2 saltwater outdoor pools (one heated in winter) and two pools for children, indoor saltwater pool (heated), gymnasium, sauna, Turkish Bath, local specialities and traditional Algarve dancing, live music in the Bar do Príncipe, historical excursions and sports tournaments, Pestana Kids Club, 2 children's parks, internet access, giant chess board and mini golf.

Nearby activities: Tennis courts at the Pestana Alvor Praia and at the Pestana Delfim, water sports centre in the Summer (June to September) with diving school, horse riding, snooker table, table tennis, driving range and putting green at the Pestana Delfim Hotel (500m), bowling.
